Craftiness

Okay, so I have been gone for a while. Christmas crept up on me and I had to get busy.

Really this should go on my crafty blog, but I can only handle one at a time right now. Maybe later.

First up, I found this idea on Pinterest. (of course) I had them planned for Father's day. Yea, that long ago. I wanted them done before Thanksgiving, but that didn't happen. I am glad they got done now. They are so cute!

 It helps that both Grandpa's like candy and keep a "stache" around.

Okay, so only Josh's Dad has a mustache now, but my Dad did years ago. It is actually a funny story. One day when I was about 5, he shaved it off. When he came home that night, I didn't know who he was and told my Mom that "some man" was at our door. He had to convince me it was him.

 All filled up and ready to gift!

This one is for my Mom. She sent me home with a cake for my Birthday. It was in a very old tin pan and you could taste it. (Yuck!) So, I thought I would try this out. Now, she can give it away and it will come back to her. (hopefully a sibling doesn't steal it!) The most expensive part was the $12 dish. The etch cream is usually $12, but I had a 50% coupon. Perfect.

 The other side. I love how it turned out! I was a bit skeptical because it is permanent and looks like you could really mess it up. But it was so easy! I am totally going to do it again. I actually re-thought the "Stache" jars because I liked this so much. But, that would require undoing and re-doing and I am so NOT going to do that.

 Pretties

 I fixed one and made the others out of bought bows. Easy peasy and cute too!

This little outfit is for Cousin Dixie. I had the onesies. Sewed on the necklace. Made some simple hair bows. (she can wear them on a baby headband) Then, used the rest of the 1/4 yard on the skirt. Done. On second thought, I should have put a pin on the back of one of the bows so it could be worn on the shirt. Next time. I hope it fits at least once.

Only one more big gift to finish. 

Then, a baby quilt. Maybe I can work on the hooded towels I planned since June. Or the name towels. 

Yea, maybe in January.

Christmas Craftiness

I could not think of any gifts this year and decided to make presents for my family. It was not long before I realized how crazy I was.

It started with a nursing cover. Double sided, with pockets.

Then, a rag quilt car seat cover to match. (before its cut and all cozy and cute)

Pajamas for my whole family. Mom, Dad, Dan, Cam, Chase, Morgan and Tyler.

Matching ones for my Sister-in-law and niece.

Jenny's shorts and pants, drawstring, not elastic. Notice the white cuffs. I didn't buy enough fabric and had to improvise. They were the first pair I worked on and the next to last ones I finished.

Funny how so many hours and months can be put into such a small pile.

and Josh. 16 pairs in all. Oh My Goodness. (I had fabric for me, but I can totally wait)

They are so cute! Already too short so they need fixed, as do Josh's. Dude, I am so tired of pajamas. I still have the fabric to make tops for all of those. Next year I will just suck it up and go to the store. So, if you missed out and want some... don't ask!

Craftiness

These are the crafty things I have been working on to keep me from going crazy and strangling Josh or Rome. (They didn't save Thor though.)

My Tree Skirt. I looked up how to make one online. I made my own pattern and picked out the fabrics and everything. The first pic is how it was while my sewing machine was broken. And then finished with my cute Santa on it. You can't really see but it has red swirls on the back. Oh, I just love it!

I decided my glider (that I stole from my Mom) needed to be recovered. You can't see the big hole I mended in the seat on the first pic. I measured, went to the store, found something I liked and the lady there helped me to figure out the rest. The top and seat were pretty easy, just like a shaped pillowcase. The armrests are a little funky, but they cover and it works. The only thing I was unhappy about was I tried so hard to get the pattern going the right way and it is upside-down on the top anyway. Pooh! It still looks way better though!

My Turkey Placemats. No its not all sewn together, but this is what it will look like when it is done. I think they are super cute. I was so worried about getting fabrics that matched that I made my friend Cathy come with me to help pick them out. I think they look pretty good. I am pretty sure I will be working on them for a long time, but having a sewing machine that works helps out a bunch.

I still have a tons of ideas for Rome's Busy Book, but that will just have to wait. I just don't have the time to figure out how to put it together. I am sure it will be great when I do though!

Blankie Baby

Rome has been dragging his chosen blankie around everywhere lately. I don't mind so much except it is huge and has been cleaning my floors. Gross! So, I decided to make him a smaller version. I don't think he will mind because it once got left at Grandma's house for 2 weeks and he didn't care. He just likes the ties on it. So, I went to the fabric store and found some fabric that was similar. White with baby and animal print and blue for the back. I got 1/2 a yard and it was perfect to make 2 stroller (or draggable) size blankets. I actually did the whole thing in a little over an hour for one blanket. Pinned, sewed, turned, tied, finished. I don't really know how to finish a blanket so I just turned it under and top stitched it twice on the end. I think they turned out so cute! I washed them so the ties are frayed already, but Rome doesn't care. I had to hide his big blankie because he wanted to tote both of them around. Also, I have a cousin who is having a baby boy, so I can give her the other little blankie. Perfect!

Craft Craziness

Lately, I have been going a bit crazy. I really needed to do something crafty. One day, I ventured out to Wal-Mart just to have something to do. I got Rome a cute baby pool and I ran across these neat stamps on clearance. Yes, I had to buy the clear stamp pad regular price, but I think it was worth it. I spent an entire nap time crawling through the garage, opening boxes and trying to find what I wanted. I was lucky that the bone folder and new paper cutter I just bought were in the last box I packed. Super easy to find. I did end up finding my markers and they worked out great! (now if only I could find my card project.) I cut card stock, folded it and then on the clear stamp block I put the letters I wanted, then the stars, colored them with markers and stamped. Done!

I made these cute cards to go along with the pictures I had done for Rome's first birthday. The guy did such a good job! Okay, the cards are pretty boring, but I feel pretty good considering I did it with almost nothing. And don't feel bad if you don't get one. I only bought one sheet so, Grandmas and Great-Grandmas pretty much covers it. (The big one in the picture is for me. They get little ones to go with the little cards.)

I know these posts are going backwards, but oh well.
