Picky?

Rome has really developed an independent attitude. I don't mind it so much. I chase him around all day anyway. When it comes to meals, I am not so thrilled. It started that he wanted to feed himself. So, he eats finger foods like cheerios and cheese. Then, he wouldn't let me feed him unless he had a spoon, and then a bowl. Fine, just extra things to clean. Now, he won't let me feed him at all. He is very good at shaking his head "no" and it means No! He does it the entire meal and will not open his mouth for anything coming from me. (Unless, I am eating and it is off of my plate.) He won't eat pieces of banana or peach or sandwich. I just don't quite know what to do with this kid. I know I am worried about a little thing and he is not going to starve. He has been nursing before every meal and at night. I am super happy about that after the complete strike a couple weeks ago. I just keep wondering what else can I do? He gets 3 to 4 meals a day and every one ends with me frustrated. Ugh!! Suggestions anyone?

He's being totally normal. They go through this all the time...it's only the beginning girl. Just put food up there and if he eats it then great. If not, he won't starve. If he's hungry enough he'll dig in. Just try different things once in a while to see if he likes them.

Tyler is going through the same thing, and even with it being my third, I wonder what is going on. He only likes food if he can feed himself. If I feed him any sort of vegetables he screams when I put it in his mouth. Kids, I tell you, why do they have to have a mind of their own?

Sean went through the same thing and I eventually gave up trying to feed him and instead put all of my energy into finding finger foods and other food I could cut up small for him to eat himself. He did just fine and like everyone else said - there are going to be days when he won't eat much, but when he is hungry he will eat. Just try to enjoy eating with him and getting to eat your food warm while he experiments. :)
