Baby Cuteness

This is the last post for November. I might keep going, but we will have to see. I have a really bad track record. After a whole month, I remember that I like it. It just takes some work, and I forget to do it with all the other stuff I have happening.
Anyway, Baby Turino Cuteness.
 Bathtime
 Tiny Tennies
(Mindy want any shoes? I have tons.)
 Found his toys
I thought he was taking a really long nap.
He just scooted over and was playing with the bumper on his crib.
 Having fun!
He keeps trying to do it again.
Capri traded her bear for his. He didn't mind.
 Pretty tasty.
 And funny.
 Sweetness.
Oh, how I love this little guy!

Favorites

I have been meaning to do a post like this since we moved into our new house. That was a year and a half ago. Wow, it has been a long time. So, these are a few of my favorite things about our house, and a couple other things too.
Yes, this is my dirty sink. But, it is an awesome sink. It can seriously hold almost all of our dishes. I never knew I was missing out on a really deep sink. Now, I do.
This is my dirty sink faucet. I love it,
because it does this and it sprays too.
(sorry for the awful pictures, I was holding a baby)
This is the instant hot water on my sink. Hot chocolate in 5 seconds? Yes, please and Thank you!
And to round out the tour of my dirty kitchen, my dishwasher. It goes all the way to the floor and holds all of my dishes and then some.  I think I only wash dishes once or twice a week because it holds so much.
This is on the other side of the kitchen. It is my pretty dish cabinet. Did I need one? No, but it is really nice to have. Don't they look pretty?
This is my craft room/ office/ guest room. It is where I go to hidecheck facebook, browse Pinterest, craft and sew.
Okay, so this one is odd. It is my bathroom fan. (dirty of course) I must explain. In my other house, the walls were so thin that when I would shower, I could still hear babies crying. Which meant that I would exit the shower and immediately get sticky wet again. (breastfeeding mothers, you understand) Yuck. Well, here, we have solid wood doors and a super loud bathroom fan. Which means I take a shower, turn it on and have 10 minutes of peace to dry off get dressed and get ready while not hearing anything. No crying babies to soil my fresh and cleanness. (at least until I can put some clothes on) It is Really Nice.
This cute little niche is in our hallway. I really like it.
This gem is my 10 year anniversary gift to myself. I had a custom band made to fit my ring. (you know, while I wasn't using it) I Lurve it! I feel like a just got it again and I want to show it to everyone.
Josh says he likes it too. Lucky, because I am not taking it back.
Too bad it doesn't fit yet.
I squeeze it on sometimes anyway.
Another reason to workout.

Christmas PJ's

It started a couple years ago when I decided (insanely) to make pajamas for my entire family. That was 17 pairs of pajamas. Crazy. Since then, I feel pretty comfortable making pajamas. So, making a new pair for my kids for Christmas is no problem. I always got new pj's for Christmas growing up and I like the idea of them being homemade. I actually give them early because I want them to be worn longer.
For Capri (mostly made while timing contractions)
For Rome (I tried to so hard NOT to make them upside down. So, of course, they ended up being upside down)

My Christmas cuties. I think they like them.

Birthday Quilt

Sunday was my Birthday. Strange that it was so late after Thanksgiving.
It was a pretty non-special day, but I had been celebrating all week.
I sent myself cookies on Monday.
I saw an ad for frosted cookies in the mail for $5. So, I sent one to my Brother on his mission.
Then, they sent me another coupon. I had to try more.
They had this sampler pack for only shipping. So, about $7. Awesome. They were pretty tasty too.
 Nope, I didn't share.
I am lucky enough to also share my Birthday with my Best Friend. Hers is the next day.
Being the crazy person that I am, I made her a quilt. Yes, after just having a baby. I blame the lack of sleep for my super busy pattern choices. It was difficult to find the time, but I got it done.
I think it looks pretty darn good too.
I was going for vintage, modern, pink, Mickey and Minnie. I think I pulled it off.
I especially like the Mickeys quilted in.
I hope she likes it too!

Thanks A Lot

Thanksgiving this year was pretty great.
I went to bed early and slept in until after 8 am.
I woke up to this happy guy.

Trying to get him to smile for a picture.
Oh, well. You will just have to trust me. He was smiling.
I tried to help my Mom cook turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, and pies.
Actually, I just sat and watched. (and fed a baby) Someday I will regret not learning all of those things. Today was not that day.
After stuffing ourselves, we played games. I did not plan them. My crafty SIL did.
They were great.
I watched her make cute turkey place settings for everyone too.
I was very observant this year.
Later that night, she invited me to go to a movie with her (and her family), in a theater! It was pretty great. Baby T slept the whole time. That was pretty great too.
And the only pictures I got... I didn't actually take. Someone found my camera and used it.
It was probably Cam, as he is in the picture.
So for that
(and everything else that day)
Thanks a lot!

Roadsigns

I have been out of town all week. I missed posting and I don't feel bad about it. It is my Birthday on Sunday and I have been celebrating all week. Well, not really, just relaxing, but with three little kids that is just like celebrating.
Anyway, I have been at Grandma's house in Park City. I have driven I-80 to Park City hundreds of times. I thought it was pretty cool when they added another lane to the canyon. It gets backed up with slow trucks at the steepest part right before the top.
This is about the roadsign they put there.
You see, right after you go over the top of the hill and start to go down into the Park City "valley" the road goes back down to three lanes instead of four. Not a big deal. They have a sign to tell you this. But, the sign shows the lane merging on the left and the lane actually merges on the right. I have had at least three close calls and one semi trying to squish me because I moved to the right instead of to the left. I don't remember every month or so when I drive up that the sign is wrong. I shouldn't have to.
Stinky UDOT. Fix your sign.

Clearance Love

I love a good clearance find.
Here is what I found at JoAnn's yesterday.
One purple plush throw $5.99 (you cannot get this stuff for $3 a yard!)
50% off scrap fabric paisley elephants and blue sharks
Star candy pop mold $5.97 minus $5= $.97 Woo!
One bias tape maker in 1 1/4 inch size- 50% off with coupon
(but it is only for a machine so I have to take it back, boo!)
and the black fabric I actually went to the store for- on sale 40% off.
Plus I am pretty sure I got $5 off $25 purchase.
 I love coupons.
BUT
I went home and had just received a coupon e-mail for 20% off entire purchase Sat. only.
I hate when that happens.

Preschool Snack

I helped with Rome's Preschool Thanksgiving party yesterday. I signed up to bring a dessert. I searched for something cute, but most of what I found was Oreo's with Reese's and candy corns made into a turkey. I though that was too much candy for one snack. I found a cute one made of a sugar cookie and candy corn, but could not find any candy corn left at the store. So, onto second choice. I also found some cornucopia snacks. One was really cute with waffle cones bent at the end and filled with M&M's. I thought that might be too big also, these kids are only 4. Next up was the same idea only smaller.
Made out of Bugles, frosting and Trix cereal.  They looked pretty cute and the kids could help make them. Bonus! I used Fruity Pebbles too.
They were a hit as far as I could tell. The kids gobbled them up. Right after the frosted sugar cookies, and pumpkin cookies.
I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of REAL food at this party. Stuffing, cheese and crackers, green bean casserole, broccoli with cheese, macaroni salad, blueberry indian bread.
The Halloween party was over the top ridiculous. WAAY too much food for kids to eat and SOO much sugar! Not that this surprised me. What got me was that the plates were loaded up, hardly touched and thrown away. Agh! Don't throw away food! Not even a plate full of sugary crap. Especially when others have not gotten any and you haven't touched it. (I was picking things off of untouched plates to share with Capri, because nothing was left.) Hello! Families were invited to this thing.
I know. I have food issues.
This time, I brought baggies so untouched snacks could be taken home. I was glad that there was nothing much wasted that needed to be taken home. I hope the Christmas party goes that well.

Chickens

We had a lot of chickens last spring. I think we had 12. We got a dozen eggs every day. Ugh. Then, some animal came and ate them all. Our neighbor's chickens too. It was sad. So we got some of the last batch of chicks for the season. 4 Dominiques, who are black and white, and 3 Blue Cochins, who are kinda gray with lots of fluffy feathers, even on their feet. They are getting pretty big now and are almost old enough to lay eggs.
Then, Josh wanted some roosters. Okaaay. He found a listing for 6 free ones. So, we picked those up too. They are mixed breeds and mostly Bantams, which are smaller than normal size.
They are pretty cute and have tiny voices. "ooo--oo-oo--oooo-ah!" They try to mount the bigger chickens which is entertaining because they are little. I think they are pretty, and they are pretty nice, which is lucky for them.
 Feeding time
Colorful rooster and fluffy butt, ha ha!
Rome likes to chase and catch them.
3 of the roosters are a special kind. Naked nick silkies. They just look ridiculous!
Yea, Josh found another ad for free hens yesterday. 14 of them. He picked them up today. Oh My Goodness. Now, we have; wait, I need a calculator; 27 chickens! I am pretty sure that is not allowed. Eh, if someone complains we will have a chicken feast.
I just used the last of our eggs. (for brownies) I don't want to think of how many eggs we will be getting soon. Have I mentioned that I don't like eggs and Capri is allergic? Special, right. I know, but it makes Josh happy. If he takes care of them, then I don't care too much. Until I have no room for food because of the dozens of eggs in the fridge. Oy!
So, If you need eggs, please come by! Fresh and delicious!

One of Those Days...

I had a super post planned for yesterday. Okay, that is a lie. I didn't plan anything. The internet pooped out on me and nothing worked. Oh, well. Another time.
Today, however, the internet is working fine and I am not.
Days with little sleep and no patience require lots of chocolate.
I love my kids, but I needed lots of chocolate today.
I put myself in time out after we got home from the grocery store.

That is all.

Dinner Disaster

Did I miss a day again? Well, Josh stole the computer last night and I got some sewing done. I really am trying here. I am freaking out a little that Christmas is only 6 weeks away and I am very much not done. I only planned on 2 quilts for Christmas presents. Oh, and name towels for my family, and I need to finish the buttons on Rome's pajamas, besides actually shopping for other presents. Once a week is just not going to get it done.
Anyway, it has been so nice to just stay home. After such a crazy September and October traveling all over. I am enjoying staying home, playing with my kids, getting nothing done. My house is a mess and I don't care. I also slack on dinner. I think about it at 4:00, if I remember. So, dinners have not been very good. I am pretty stress free though.
Well, I decided to make a nice dinner for Saturday night. I was perusing Pinterest to see how to store some vegetables that we got and noticed this recipe that I had pinned. It might be a really good lasagna idea for gluten free or vegetarians. I thought I could do it. I even started with plenty of time at 3:00.
The problems started early. I chose italian sausage instead of ground beef(very greasy, even after draining). I used my mandolin to slice my zucchini, but there were so many seeds that the pieces were very holey and uneven. I chose to shred a block of mozzerella cheese instead of using the bag of pre-shredded resulting in chunks of cheese that did not spread evenly. I didn't have any ricotta or cottage cheese, so I used some cream cheese and only half the amount called for. I also did not have enough parmesan cheese and so used only half as much. I didn't want to make the sauce (running out of time already) so I used the spaghetti sauce I had in the fridge. It was good but only half the amount I needed. I did not add water to help it out.
It took me almost 2 hours to prep the stuff to put together. Needless to say it did not go together well.
Before baking. Not enough zucchini, sauce or cheese. Too much italian sausage.
After Baking:  Greasy, cheesy and watery.
I do believe it was the worst lasagna ever. Even beat out the Poor Man Lasagna we made in college with cottage cheese and crunchy burnt noodles on the side. We didn't have garlic bread to burn with it this time. We ate it anyway. I wanted leftovers so I wouldn't have to cook Sunday, but it was so thin that we ate almost all of it. Ahh, I might get a hang of this dinner thing someday.
Lucky I get to hang out with these cute kids though. They don't care yet.
 Boxes are fun!
She laid all of this out to wear the night before. (even the orange tutu and sparkly hair tie)
Happy in the morning.
Yea, this guy too.
